When high school student Victoria Leon founded an Alianza Club at Glenbrook South High School, she wasn’t just starting an extracurricular—she was igniting a movement. Her first event, a community walk paired with a bake sale and raffle, brought together 50 people and raised an incredible $1,033 to support Project Alianza’s education programs in rural Central America.
“We’re so proud of how it turned out and are already thinking about ways to grow the event next year,” Victoria shared.

Victoria’s leadership shows how young people are powerful allies in our mission to ensure that every child has access to quality education. The funds raised by Glenbrook South’s Alianza Club will directly support our work, including AnGo, our digital literacy platform designed to help children learn to read in Spanish.

What started as a walk in a local park turned into a step toward global impact. Victoria and her fellow students aren’t just raising money; they’re raising awareness and standing in solidarity with the women and children at the heart of our programs.
“The walk was a huge success! We had 50 people participate… and their families. We also raised money through a bake sale and raffle at the event!”
As the school year wraps up, Victoria is already planning next year’s event, and we couldn’t be more inspired.
