Our Founder's Story Featured in the Boston Globe

Embark on our remarkable journey that began when our founder, Kristin Van Busum, left Boston in 2014 to impact the lives of coffee farmers in Nicaragua. An encounter with a 12-year-old girl named Ana led to the birth of Project Alianza, devoted to bringing literacy and hope to Central America's most impoverished regions. We've built 16 schools, trained 200 educators, and over the past five years, empowered over 160,000 children to read and write. But this is just the beginning.

In October, we're releasing a free learning app to reach even more children, and in the coming year, we plan to train 100 additional educators. Our vision is to do for education what Partners in Health has done for modern medicine in the developing world: build local capacity. The journey has had its challenges, from enduring long flights to navigating natural disasters, but we remain unwaveringly committed to creating a world of opportunities, innovation, and purpose. With your support, we're helping children escape poverty and hopelessness.
