The first in her community to graduate, Marling is making history. Growing up in a coffee farming community deep in rural Nicaragua, means going to school can be an impossible challenge without a solution. Neither of M’s parents went to primary school for more than a few years, and they wanted more for Marling and her siblings. But without a good school, the cycle of not graduating grade school would continue.

With access to a good education, everything changed. Because you did something, the cycle was broken. M excelled and graduated from primary school. Her dad, Don Felix, requested support from Project Alianza and built a preschool so that the youngest kids could start learning too. Now, Marling has a scholarship to go to secondary school, her sister is set to graduate next year, and her youngest sibling will be able to enroll in Pre-K with hopes for a bright future.

Education doesn’t impact just one person. Because you believed in Marling’s love of learning, an entire community has changed. Her parents were able to bring the education they never had into their community and provide an opportunity for the smallest members to go to school.  Because you decided to take action, an entire generation is falling in love with learning, and Marling is well on her way to achieving her own dreams.
